My First Little Short

MJ Hermanny (Level 5) ~ 7/30/2012 11:55 AM

In between filming 'Paranoia' I've also created a two minute short for Film4's Scene Stealers competition where you take a scene from an iconic Film4 movie and re-imagine it.

I chose the excellent 'Dead Man's Shoes' by Shane Meadows and have amalgamated the confrontation and LSD scenes.

This is my first time shooting outdoors and my first time using Final Cut Pro and I'm feeling rather proud of myself!

I had some help from a tutor with the sound in post as my levels were all over the place!

For some reason on Youtube the end credits aren't showing. They're fine on my file and I've uploaded three different times but they won't show so the credits are listed in the blurb under the video.

Congratulation. Doesn't it feel wonderful to finish your first short? You never end up the same screenwriter after you produce a script. It just accelerates your growth as a writer. I'm happy for you ... and mad :( did you post a thread to tell us about the Scene Stealers competition? Anyway, well done. I'm proud of you.

Thanks guys!

Ammar, yes, it lifted me completely to be in the editing suite today and seeing it all come together. I feel hopelessly addicted now. Sorry about not posting a thread, I thought I'd mentioned it but it must have been in my Blog. I don't know how I found out about it, a Shooting People newsletter perhaps, they always list interesting competitions.

It took me a while to find the video (pre-link), but it was worth it! Don't you love this stuff? Making a movie and putting it out there?

Congrats on the accomplishment, and I'm rooting for you.
